About
My name is Cécile M. Bamlango. I was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Congolese parents. When I was nine years old, I moved to Nairobi, Kenya, where I lived for eight years. In June 2025, I moved to New York City to pursue a BFA in Film and Television at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
Photography has heavily influenced my love for film. I have been a photographer for the last four years, beginning with my first camera, a Canon 4000D. I joined my high school photography club and soon found myself photographing school events and sports tournaments. My school community was grateful for my work, and beyond school photography, I documented my travels throughout Kenya and around the world.
Traveling is one of my strongest passions and continues to shape my creative practice. Exploring new places gives me the opportunity to learn about different cultures, landscapes, and historical backgrounds. Photography has been my way of engaging with the world and sharing what I find meaningful within it. Through my lens, I aim to highlight the beauty of diverse cultural traditions, natural environments, and historical sites. My hope is that my work encourages others to appreciate the complexity and richness of the world around them.
