Boyfriend Fever

“Boyfriend Fever” was my first short film shot at the University of Southern California for their 2024 summer film program. The assignment was to create a two-minute, non-dialogue film, and to be honest, I was stumped at first. How do you tell this story without dialogue?

The inspiration finally came during a long car ride to Disneyland. I was listening to “Dumb Dumb” by Mazie, a song that was one of my favorites in 2021. Hearing it again made me feel nostalgic, and I started reflecting on the pressure many teenagers and even adults feel around dating. In the age of social media, it is easy to think we need to be in a relationship, and we rush into searching for one.

But in that rush, we often forget how much our friends have been there since the beginning. Sometimes, friendship is what you truly need, not a rushed relationship.
